Arnold House
Arnold House
Arnold House in Corsham High Street was gifted to the Parish Council of Corsham (now Corsham Town Council) in 1959 by the late Miss Joan Pictor. The generous gift was intended to serve the Council and its work in all aspects. Since that time the building has been used as Parish Council offices, tourist office and a Tourist and Information Centre, along with two flats. The Tourist Information & Heritage Centre was run by the former North Wiltshire District Council but is now operated by the Corsham Area Development Trust and is staffed mainly by volunteers. A rear meeting room is used by various groups including the Joan Pictor Club, Credit Union and Corsham Link. To the rear of the building stands a separate two storey outbuilding which was once used as a Girl Guide hut, before becoming the Town Council workmans’ store.
Various improvements have been carried out to the building in recent years including major roof repairs, refurbished ground floor, fire safety works and disability access improvements.
