BMX & Skate Park
The BMX jumps were originally built in 2003 as a result of local interest from a group of young people. This was before the skate park was built. The original jumps were constructed with the support of M J Church Plant Ltd, Community First, Corsham Area Community Partnership, Corsham Town Council, Curtis Bikes, North Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership, North Wiltshire District Council, T & J BMX Track Specialist, and Viridor Waste Management. The Project was also made possible with the help of several BMX riders in the Town.
The jumps were revamped in 2008 with the help of NWDC, Wiltshire Alternative Youth Sports and Curtis Bikes. The money for the revamp came from the Town Council and NWDC. The additional work was to put tarmac around the turns to prevent the soil eroding too quickly.
It is managed & maintained by the Town Council. It's proving very popular and is attracting young people from neighbouring towns.
Now that BMX is an Olympic sport the facility is better used than ever.
Springfield Skate Facility opened in July 2006 following almost 5 years of fund raising.
The facility is constructed from concrete in order to minimise noise and provide a hard wearing, smooth surface to skate on.
Skaters were involved in the design of the facility, so that it meets the needs and expectations of the majority of skateboarders.
The project was managed by Brian Eatock who chaired the Corsham Skate Steering Group, which formed part of the Corsham Area Community Planning Partnership.
