Amenities Committee

The Amenities Committee is responsible for the maintenance of Council owned property; the Town Hall, Arnold House and the old Guide Hut, as well Council services such as bus shelters, cemeteries, The Batters,  Beechfield nature area and Corsham in Bloom.

In an effort to "future proof" the budget of both the Committee and the Council as a whole, we have undertaken an Asset Management Plan so that we can predict as far as possible when we will need to make major spending commitments.

This enables us to make provision for foreseen expenditure in the Council budget and hopefully reducing the unforeseen.

The Transport Working Group

The Transport Working Group was formed because of continual matters concerning traffic management, condition of road surfaces, parking, speed limits and road safety. In addition the County Council meets annually with the Town Council and other interested parties to discuss the Local Transport Plan. We have suggested schemes to improve road safety in Priory Street, the provision of more bus shelters, dropped kerbs, and reduction of speed limits.

We have been successful in getting the 30mph restriction extension in Lacock Road. We have urged the County Council to resurface Pickwick Road as a matter of urgency as this road is in the worse condition of any in Corsham. We will continue to monitor on and off street parking.

If you have any thoughts or concerns the Transport Working Group would be pleased to receive them at the Town Hall.
