The Town Hall
Since 2000, when Corsham became a Town rather than a Parish, the Council has occupied the Town Hall at the eastern end of the High Street.
There are three main functions of the Town Hall. As a venue, the Main Hall upstairs is available for booking for a range of events, from Weddings to recitals, rehearsals to conferences.
The Council Chamber is the venue for nearly all Council and Committee Meetings, all of which are open to the public, who are always extremely welcome. All planning applications may be viewed there prior to Council (Planning) Meetings that take place every three weeks. The Registrar of births, marriages and deaths attends weekly on an appointment only basis.
The Council’s administration is run from offices on the ground floor. The Council officers work extremely hard to manage the decisions of the elected Members, and to manage the Council’s statutory responsibilities. The staff deal with Hall Bookings, Allotment enquiries, Ladbrook Lane Cemetery, Play Areas throughout Corsham, Neston and Gastard. They will try to help you with all local authority matters, even where they fall under the auspices of Wiltshire Council.
If you want local information or advice or to report a concern please contact the Information Point in the Town Hall. If we cannot deal with the matter ourselves we will try our best to direct you to the right people. We are especially keen to receive reports of overgrown footpaths, whether they are in the urban or rural areas. Many of these are Wiltshire Council’s responsibility but some are maintained by Westlea Housing Association, the Town Council or private landowners.
Both Town Council officers and your elected members want you to regard the Town Hall as a first port of call for any subject related to Corsham. If we know what your views are, then we can act on them.
