2011 : Corsham wins Gold in South West in Bloom

 

At the South West in Bloom awards ceremony in Newquay on 15 September, Corsham won its first ever Gold award in the Sargent Cup category for small towns. Everyone involved with the Corsham in Bloom groups is delighted - and thank you to everyone in Corsham for their help and support. More details to come, including details of the It's Your Neighbourhood Awards and the winners of Corsham's own competitions.

It's Your Neighbourhood Awards

A number of groups in Corsham won prestigious RHS It's Your Neighbourhood Awards at the awards ceremony in Newquay. The winners were:

Level 4, Thriving, Awards: 3rd Corsham Brownies, Corsham Regis Gardening Club, Corsham Primary School - Broadwood, Centenary Garden, Corsham Daffodil Planters, Mayo Memorial, Neston Triangle and Transcoco Community Orchard.

Level 5, Outstanding, Awards: Corsham Primary School - Pound Pill, The Corsham School. Neston Primary School, Corsham War Memorial and St Bart's Living Churchyard.

As well as entering South West in Bloom, Corsham in Bloom runs its own competitions.

The winners for 2011 were:

Best Place of Worship : St Bart's Churchyard

Best School : Heywood Preparatory School

Best Sports Club : Corsham Cricket Club

Best Commercial Premises : H Merrett Funeral Directors

Best Public Building or Structure : The War Memorial Garden

Best Public House, Social Club or Eating Place : The Corsham Club

Best Flats or Communal Residence : The Services Cotswold Centre

Best Allotment : Mr R Cundict, Plot 5, Grove Field

Best Overall Allotment Site : Middlewick

Best Garden : Mr and Mrs Hancock, 27 Swan Road

Congratulations to all the winners.

From Plot to Plate Painting Competition

Congratulations to Beth Truelove of Heywood Prep for winning the Under 6 age group, and to Evie Hurstwood of Corsham Primary, who not only won our 7-11 age group, but also went on to win the same category for the whole of the South West region.
