Christmas is Coming to Corsham

Christmas is Coming to Corsham

This year’s Christmas Lights Switch On – our traditional, family-friendly event – will take place on Friday 1 December with all the things that make it our favourite event of the year. We’ll have a Christmas Market in the High Street, which will start at 3pm, featuring local traders selling everything from jewellery to Christmas goodies, plus great food and drink to enjoy – and the town centre businesses will be open then too.

From around 5.15pm, there will be live music on the stage, with indie-folk duo Fly Yeti Fly getting the evening started before the lights go on – as usual the young winner of our Design a Christmas Card competition will be flicking the switch – and then we’ll be singing along with local band The Real Imposters after 6pm. At the other end of town, the Rock Choir will be singing at the busking spot, followed by Corsham Windband.

For little ones we’ve got fairground fun with rides and games plus, of course, a visit from Father Christmas who will be in his free grotto.

As well as the Switch On event, St Bartholomew’s Church will be holding their annual Christmas Tree Festival, and announcing the winners on the night, and we’ll be announcing the winner of the Best Christmas Window competition, entered by the town centre’s businesses.

And if that wasn’t enough, the weekend before the Lights Switch On sees the return of the Wishing Tree. Come and make a wish to hang on the High Street Christmas tree on Saturday 25 November, from 10am-1pm. Watch out for more details on both events in the weeks ahead.
