Since 2019/20 the Town Council has commissioned an annual report of its greenhouse gas emissions. This report is to help the Town Council to better understand greenhouse gas emissions it is producing, in order to better understand how to reduce these emissions to become a net zero organisation. From 2022/23 the report was expanded to include additional elements such as Waste, Water, Computing, etc. to give a more comprehensive and accurate report of the Town Council’s carbon footprint. For 2025/26 the report has been created by the Town Council, not by a third-party organisation, to reduce costs, to be more focused and to improve accuracy.
Since 2022/23 the Town Council has reduced its greenhouse emissions from 27.63t to 13.35t (Market Based) by reducing energy use, switching to green energy tariffs, switching to electric vehicles, reducing waste, etc.
The Town Council regularly plants trees and hedges, which absorb carbon-dioxide, to offset our greenhouse gas emissions to help become a net zero organisation.
