Corsham Town Council is working with Carbon Footprint Ltd to calculate and report the carbon footprint figures for the Council’s operations. This will enable us to know how many tonnes of carbon our operations are emitting and help us to work towards our commitment of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

We have now calculated our baseline carbon footprint figure for March 2019 to April 2020, which was 38.75 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. We are happy to announce that our latest Carbon Footprint Appraisal for 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022, found that we had reduced our carbon footprint by 43% to 21.98 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent since the baseline year. This is most notably due to switching electricity tariffs in all sites (controlled and non-controlled) to 100% renewable electricity tariffs.

Please see below the full carbon footprint appraisal reports for 2019-2020 and 2021-2022

Corsham Climate Action have created the Corsham Community Garden at the Pound Arts Centre with funding from Corsham Area Board, Corsham Town Council, and Corsham Co-op, and working in partnership with the Pounds Art Centre.

The objective of the community garden is to create a space where the community can come together in a creative, educational environment, reconnecting with the land and production of food in a safe and well managed context.

The garden aims to:

  • Promote healthy food by growing organic fruit and vegetables, mainly for use in the Pound café but also elsewhere in the community
  • Provide an environment conducive to having fun, learning and sharing
  • Reconnect the community to the land
  • Provide a focus for combating loneliness and isolation, by providing a facility for selected community groups to attend and engage in community gardening activities
  • Promote environmentally friendly gardening and growing practices.
