Calculating Corsham Town Council’s Carbon Footprint

Calculating Corsham Town Council’s Carbon Footprint

Corsham Town Council is working with Carbon Footprint Ltd to calculate and report the carbon footprint figures for the Council’s operations. This will enable us to know how many tonnes of carbon our operations are emitting and help us to work towards our commitment of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030. We have now calculated our baseline carbon footprint figure for March 2019 to April 2020, which was 38.75 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

We are happy to announce that our latest Carbon Footprint Appraisal for 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022, found that we had reduced our carbon footprint by 43% to 21.98 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent since the baseline year. This is most notably due to switching electricity tariffs in all sites (controlled and non-controlled) to 100% renewable electricity tariffs. Please see below the full carbon footprint appraisal reports for 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.
