Today we launch the Stories of the High Street project, which celebrates the people and places that make Corsham such a special place to shop, work and live.

The project is co-produced with, and funded by, Bath Spa University’s Story Arcs initiative, which is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and is dedicated to showing the importance of storytelling and how it can be used across sectors such as business, culture and education.

Our Story Associate, journalist Jenny Hulme, has captured the individual stories of over 40 of our local shops and businesses. They make for fascinating reading and highlight the sense of community and collaboration which keeps our High Street so vibrant.

Twenty-six of the stories from this first phase are now live on our website. Take a look to find out more about the history of the buildings and businesses, the individual paths that brought the shopkeepers to Corsham, and how shopping locally benefits both the town and residents.

We have produced a series of postcards which are available to read and takeaway from the participating businesses, as well as window stickers with a QR code to take you to the website.

We will be sharing the stories on our social media over the coming weeks to promote the businesses in the lead-up to Christmas, and will continue to share them afterwards to encourage visits to our High Street.

The hope is that this project will continue to grow, and more stories will be collected. If you are a local business and are interested in being involved in our next round, please get in touch.
